Imagine life in the distant future and consider that there may have been world altering events such as technological advancements, natural disasters, disease outbreaks or even alien invasions. Design a character, creature and environment to blend storytelling, creativity, and technical proficiency.
Curated mood boards and reference images (inspired by films such as, A Quiet Place, and real-world fallout shelters), and iterative scamping to develop detailed compositions.
Applied one-point perspective for dynamic cityscape views and layered textures for realism in both bunker and surface environments.
Created a cyborg beast blending animal traits with mechanical elements to embody strength, intelligence, and menace. Used process sketches to refine the balance between organic and mechanical aesthetics.
Designed a human survivor highlighting resilience and adaptability, including protective gear and makeshift weapons.
Illustrated a dystopian underground bunker juxtaposed with a decaying cityscape. Highlighted contrasts between human-made structures and overgrown vegetation overtaking the ruins above.
Concept development: Constructed a fully-realised setting with a detailed backstory, geography, and culture.
Illustration: Delivered high-quality digital artwork with attention to detail, perspective, and atmospheric effects.
Storytelling through design: Captured the dichotomy of human ingenuity and its destructive potential through the juxtaposition of innovation (cyborgs) and decay (post-apocalyptic settings).
Attention to detail: Incorporated subtle details such as peeling paint, weapon placement, and the interplay of light and shadow for added realism. Highlighted textures such as cracked walls, rusted machinery, and overgrown plants for realism.
